Inaba Onsen Village

Tottori, also called the Onsen kingdom with 10 hot springs. Out of these, the group of the five hot springs located in the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture, Tottori Onsen, Yoshioka Onsen, Hamamura Onsen, Shikano Onsen (all in Tottori City) and Iwami Onsen in Iwami Town are together called the "Inaba Onsen Village".

【Tottori Onsen】
The source of this hot spring is located in the downtown area, a five minute walk away from Tottori Station. This Onsen was opened in 1904 and offers a great amount of clear water, containing plenty of sodium. It is highly valued as one of those rare Onsen being located in the downtown area. The water is taken at a depth of about 50 meters where it flows from cracks in the pyroclastic rocks of Kawahara.
【Shikano Onsen】
This Onsen was opened in 1954 and its water is flowing out from cracks in the granite of Tottori.
【Yoshioka Onsen】
An Onsen not far off from the inner parts of Tottori City in the neighborhood of Lake Koyama. It is said that this hot spring was discovered in the 14th century and during the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) it was a prosperous hot spring cure resort that had been established by the feudal lord of Tottori. Its water is flowing out from cracks in the granite of Tottori.
【Hamamura Onsen】
This hot spring is located in the birthplace of the Kaigarabushi with plenty of water and a 500 year old history.
【Iwai Onsen】
The oldest Onsen in the San'in Region has a 1300 year old history. It is well known for the exceptional custom of "Yukamuri" (literally "to pour hot water on the body"), when a small hand towel is put on the head and the water surface is hit with a ladle according to the rhythm of the Yukamuri Song, while pouring hot water on the body. The heat source is supposed to be quartz-diorite.
